"We share a book. What does it do? Hold it, pat it - taste it, too!"
Reading with children early and often, starting as soon as possible after they're born, has many proven health benefits. At first, it may seem hard to do. Do they understand? What's the best way? The first STEP is to SHARE: S - Snuggle! H- Hands On! A- Affection (show lots)! R - Respond (Think STEP: Stretch, Talk, Explore, Patience)! E - Enjoy! Developed by a pediatrician, the research-backed SHARE STEP method helps babies and their grownups get the most out of every reading opportunity, beginning at birth. Simple text and high-contrast illustrations, perfect for developing eyes and brains, show how it works. Share this book—and many more—to build a love of reading to last a lifetime!
What is the SHARE STEP Method?
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that parents begin reading with their babies as soon as possible after birth, when their brain is growing fast. Book sharing is a perfect way to build emotional connection, early language skills, and a healthy routine of reading. Developed by a pediatrician, the evidence-based SHARE STEP method shows how to get the most out of every wonderful reading opportunity!
